Reliability analysis of very slender columns subjected to creep

A mechanical model was developed to evaluate the reliability of very slender columns subject creep, employing nonlinear moment-curvature relationship. Second-order effects were considered by finite difference method. Numerical tests carried out on 432 with a slenderness index between 100 and 200. The general method adopted determine design load, applying displacement stress-strain diagram for consideration creep. calculated using Monte Carlo First Order Reliability Method. Among results obtained, it observed that is important review safety criterion Brazilian Standard NBR 6118 about (90 < λ ≤ 200) performing calibration additional coefficient γn1. In addition, an increase in reinforcement ratio commonly produces reduction index; first-order relative eccentricity promotes decrease reliability, among other evaluated factors.
